Mentoring
Mentorship
The mentoring team's role is to guide scholars in developing and implementing their individualized development plans (IDPs) and facilitating the conceptualization and design of their research project. The mentor(s) also will be available to help troubleshoot any issues that arise while the scholar is conducting their research and developing LHS competencies. Finally, mentors will provide critiques of abstracts, manuscripts, and grant applications.
Scholars are required to identify a scientific mentor. Scholars are able to have additional mentors in this program, although it is not required.
Each site also has a designated site PI who can assist with initiating connections with health system leaders.
While not required, mentors and mentees are welcome to jointly complete a formal mentor-mentee contract and document the following commitments:
Regular meetings to review progress
Mentors making resources of their own research programs available to mentees as appropriate
Serving as exemplars for professionalism and committing to the scholar’s overall career development
Participating in appropriate program activities
Mentor Stipend
Up to one mentor can receive an annual $5000 stipend.
